Our website is designed to be a resource for you to utilize throughout the school year.  Here you will find documents, websites, and information valuable for the AP Language and Composition course and beyond. 

 

Additionally,  this is the place where you will be able to access weekly assignments and schedules.

Class Work for the Week(s) of 10/16-10/20:

 

 

Monday:  Shelby Steele essay due so HAVE YOUR ANTHOLOGY WITH YOU--check annotations, check SOAPSTone, and take Reading Check quiz; share Fun with Tone writing exercise from Friday

Tuesday:  Discuss Steele essay (HAVE ANTHOLOGY, return quizzes); review Rhetorical Identification Practice #2 (have this completed work with you in class)

Wednesday: Introduce Rhetorical Analysis (Weekly Response) writing requirements and expectations (minus the analysis for right now); Rhetorical Precis (handouts and notes); Steele essay quote work (handouts)

Thursday:  Continue to use Steele quote work (handouts from yesterday) to understand rhetoric (identification, writing, etc.)

Friday: First official Socratic Seminar (on the Weekly Response text assigned for the week--NOT STEELE); annotations and SOAPSTone checked before discussion (have all work with you)

Monday:  Independent Reading (check Assignments Page for specifics); Complete Rhetorical Identification Practice #2 (DUE TOMORROW

Tuesday: Independent Reading; Weekly Response for Joan Didion text posted on Assignments Page (print, read, annotate, and SOAPStone)

Wednesday: Independent Reading; Weekly Response (choose excerpts and draft based on class notes, resources, and instruction)

Thursday:  Independent Reading; Weekly Response (finalize response DUE TOMORROW based on class notes, resources, and instruction) 

Friday:  Independent Reading; read and prepare Frederick Douglass text from 50 Essays Anthology (due MONDAY--Post-It annotations and SOAPSTone will be checked and you will have a Reading Check Quiz)
